Beijing Badaling Great Wall Map
Great Wall at Baddaling is the essence of the Great Wall which is a piece of great ancient defense project of the Chinese people and one of the wonders of the world. Originally built in Qin Dynasty (221BC-206BC) to protect China's borders from the intrusion of the northern nomadic tribes. Many centuires later, the remains of the Great Wall was rebuilt and reinfored during the Ming Dynasty to defend the capital against the intrusion of the Mongolian people.

The Baddaling Great Wall was underwent heavy restoration after the founded of the Republic of Chinese People and was promoted as a key national cultural relic, open firstly to the public. In 1988, it was enlisted in the World Cultural Heritage Directory by UNESCO. On July 7, 2007, it gained the worldwide reputation once again -- listing among the New Seven Wonders of the World. It is approximately 50 miles (80 km) northwest of urban Beijing city in Yanqing County, which is within the Beijing municipality. The highest point of Badaling is Beibalou about 0.63 miles (1,015 m) above sea level.
Now the Baddaling Great Wall has developing into a well known tourist spot with its marvelous sight, perfect facilities, deep cultural and historic connotation and a series modern tourist service infrastructures like Baddaling Hotel and Great Wall Museum of China.It was here that President Richard Nixon and his wife, accompanied by Vice Premier Li Xiannian, visited on February 24, 1972, during his historic journey to China. It was also the part of the wall climbed by Mao Zedong and other 370 international dignitaries and celebrities.
