Beijing Fragrant Hills Park(Xiangshan Park) Maps
Situated in the western outskirt of Beijing, Fragrant Hills Park is a large forest park with imperial garden features of long history and rich culture. Covering an area of 160 hectares (395 acres), it consists of a natural pine-cypress forest, hills blanketed with maple trees, smoke trees and persimmon trees, as well as landscaped areas with traditional architecture and cultural relics.
The Park is recognized as one of the major tourist attractions in Beijing. When autumn arrives, the natural scenery in the park turns spectacular, with fiery red smoke tree and maple tree leaves covering the mountain side. Every year, thousands of tourists ride the cable cars through the park in order to see the hills in autumn colors. The grand opening of the annual Red Leaf Festival of Beijing takes place there usually in mid-October to early Novermber.
Originally built in 1186 in Jin Dynasty and expanded during the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, Fragrant Hill Park has become one of the ten top tourist spots through restoration and development since 1949. The famous senic spots in the park include Zhao Temple,Shuangqing Villa,Temple of Azure Clouds, Fragrant Temple,Spectacles Lake (Yanjing Lake),Incense Burner Peak,Study of Reading Heart (Jianxin Zhai) ect..

Two visit routes in visiting Fragrant Hills Park
- North route, where visitors will see Spectacles Lake (Yanjing Lake), Study of Reading Heart (Jianxin Zhai), Bright Temple (Zhao Miao), etc. Spectacles Lake is a lake divided half by a bridge.
- South route, main attractions along the route include Tranqulity Green Lake (Jingcui Lake), Shuangqing Villa, Fragrant Temple, Incense Burner Peak, etc.
