Beijing Jingshan Park Maps
JingShan Park is one of the oldest and best preserved imperial gardens in China, located in the axis of Beijing city, facing the north gate(Gate of Divive Might) of Forbidden City. Jingshan was originally named Wansui Hill (Long Live Hill), which is formed by gathering the soil dug from the Moat of the Imperial Palace. Covering a total area of 230,000 quare metres(about 57 acres), it has five summits, and on each summit there is a pavillion once used by officials for gathering and leisure purposes. The mid summit is the highest point in Beijing city, which offers visitors a splendid birdview of the Forbidden City and the whole Beijing city.

Once Jingshan Park can be accessed only through the north gate of the Forbidden City and now is separated from Forbidden City by a new street(Jingshan St.), then a new gate is built for Jingshan Park. Now it has become a public park and is famous for its peonies and more than one thousand ancient pine and cypress trees. Every year more than 200 varieties of peonies will present to the public from late April to mid-May. Also Jingshan Park is the spot that Chongzhen (the last emperor of the Ming Dynasty) commited suicide by hanging himself on a tree in 1644.
