Beijing Niujie Mosque Travel Guide
Niujie Mosque is by far the largest, oldest and most popular mosque in Beijing, located in Niujie(Ox Street), Xuanwu District in Beijing. It is a spiritual center for 10,000 Muslims, who come here to bathe and warship everyday.
Niujie Mosque was initially built in 996 and was reconstructed and enlarged by the Qing Emperor Kangxi, now covering an area of approximately 6000 square meters. The mosque is a historical and cultural relic that is worth to visit. It is a mixture of Islamic and Chinese cultures. From the outside, its architecture shows traditional Chinese influence while the inside has mostly Islamic decorations.
