Taoranting Park ( meaning Joyous and relaxed when staying in this Pavilion Park) is located in Xuanwu District in the southern part of the city It was built in Qing Dynasty and enjoyed great fame at that time, since it is unlike other parks and gardens of the city that were reserved for the emperor and his family, it was accessible to all. Therefore Scholars and poets often gathered there, reciting and composing poetry and essays, or just to relax, admiring the beauty of the moon.
The park was restored in 1952 after abandoning for a long time. Now it covers a total area of 59 acres, of which 17 acres are water, with many pavillions scattered around. It is popular with residents and visitors for strolling and boating, cultivating temperament. It is a romantic and peaceful place for relaxiation.
