Hong Kong to Guangdong Meixian Transportation

Inquiry: Next month we will go to Meixian from Hongkong. How can we go to Meixian? Can we go by bus or must we go by plane? How far (in minutes/ hours) if we go by bus or by plane? And if we must go by plane, how much it's cost from HK airport to Meixian airport? Thanks so much.

Choice 1. Direct Plane from HK to Meixian Airport (run by China South Airlines). Cost more than HKD 1,500. You can find details on the web of the China South Airlines.

Choice 2. Go to Shenzhen from Hongkong firstly. Then take a bus to Meixian in Shenzhen. We list some of the bus stations for you.

Ps:

1. prepare some RMB before you go. No bus stations accept Hongkong dollars.
2. It may cost around RMB 100 per person.
3. You'd better arrive at the bus station at least 30 minutes earlier to make sure they still have seats for you.
4. If you can ask a Chinese you know to make a reservation, that will be good.
5. It may take a 5-hour drive.

Choice 3. Take a train in Shenzhen to Meizhou City, and then transfer to Meixian by bus.

PS: Meizhou is not the terminal station. You should pay attention to it.

Meixian is a small county in the central part of Meizhou City, however, a famous hometown of overseas Chinese. The total area is 2755 square km. Mother language here is Hakka. But they can speak Cantonese and some of the young people can speak Mandarin. But you'd better find someone who can speak English there to help you.

We don't recommend you to take night buses. First, Hard to find one hotel still open their doors that late or that early. Second, not safe enough.

Going to Shenzhen from Hong Kong Airport:
step 1. Take No. A 43 Bus at Hong Kong Airport
Step 2. Get off at Sheung Shui Railway Station (?????)  
Step 3. Transfer to Lo Wu (??) from Sheung Shui Railway Station    Fee: about HKD 20
Step 4: Go to Shenzhen from customs

PS:

1. The four steps may take 2 hours.
2. You can also do some inquiry at the HK Airport about how to go to Shenzhen. They may also give you some helpful advice.
3. There are some bus stations very close to the customs of Shenzhen. Maybe you can go to find one and aks whether they run buses to Meixian. Or take a taxi to Donghu Bus Station (?????). It's not far from the customs and runs buses to Meixian at 7:05 and 7:50 or 16:00.

Besides, it may be easier for you guys to take a train since the Shenzhen Railway Station is near the customs pass. As I wrote above, Meixian is in the middle of Meizhou, so arriving at Meizhou equals to arriving at Meixian.

There are many hotels and hostels. You'd better choose a star-ranked one for considering the safety.
