Due to China's large territory, the administrative divisions of China have consisted of several levels since ancient times. Currently there are five practical levels of local government: the province, prefecture, county, township, and village.
The following are the 34 province-level divisions in China, including 23 provinces, five autonomous regions, four municipalities, and two special administrative regions.
