Map of the Han Dynasty

The long-lived Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD) is considered a golden age in Chinese history. It is broken into two period: the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC – 24 AD) and the Eastern Han Dynasty (25 AD – 220AD). Due to proper reign under wise emperors, the Han Dynasty was an age of prosperity, achieving successes in economy, literature, arts, culture and technology.

The Han Dynasty Map presents boundaries of the Western Han and the Eastern Han with yellow lines. The red lines connecting other parts of the empire spread out from the capitals of the two dynasties – Chang'an (current Xi'an in Shaanxi Province) of the former and Luoyang (current Luoyang in Henan Province) of the latter.
