Map of the Sui Dynasty

Existing for only 38 years, the Sui Dynasty began in 581 and ended in 618. The founding of the Sui Dynasty put an end to a long period of division and turbulence and unified the whole nation. Though ephemeral, the Sui Dynasty provides a stable society that encouraged political and economic achievements. The Sui Dynasty became to decline since the tyrannical rule of the second monarch Emperor Yang and finally came to an end through a succession of disloyalty, rebellion, and assassination.

The Sui Dynasty Map presents the boundaries of the Sui Dynasty and provincial borders with bright yellow lines, provincial names, main cities in each province, and uses red lines to connect the national capital Chang'an (today's Xi'an in Shaanxi Province) with other major cities of the state.
