Dalian, located in the southern tip of Liaoning Peninsula, facing the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea, is the second largest town in Liaoning Province and the largest port in northern China. It is the center of tourism, finance and information. As the coastal city in China, Dalian has an exotic sightseeing with beautiful beaches, and houses numerous bathing places, where the tourists can relax themselves from the long tired work and stress. As a significant trading and financial center in northeastern Asia, Dalian has earned the reputation of the “Hong Kong of Northern China”. As China’s Silicon Valley, Dalian City has a highly developed software industry.
Compared with the ancient cities holding a history of thousand years, Dalian is a young city with only less 200 years, but it has developed as one of the most attractive tourist destinations in China because of the pleasant climate, exotic beaches and scenic mountains.
Location and Topography of Dalian
As the most important littoral opening city, Dalian covers an area of 12,574 square kilometers possessing a population of 5.23 million. The feature of topography is mainly low dotted with small mountains and hills. The coast line is crooked, and also there are many bays. The most attractive character of its topography should be the long coast lines creating many beautiful beaches and summer resorts.
Climate of Dalian
Dalian is located in a warm temperate zone with a semi-moist monsoon climate and ocean climate features. The annual average temperature is about from 8 to 11 degree Celsius. Enjoying the four distinct seasons, it has the arm springs, hot and rainy summers, cool autumns and cooler and humid winters. The average temperature in January of Dalian is about from -2 to 0 degree Celsius, while the average temperature in July of Dalian is from 23 to 25 degree Celsius. The best time to have your tour should be the springs and autumns. And the other best time is from May onwards when the Dalian Chinese Scholar Tree Blossom Affairs and Commodity Export Fair open in the city. They run through to mid-September.

Railways in Dalian
As the terminus of the Harbin-Dalian Railway (Ha Da Railway), Dalian is well connected to the networks that crfiss-cross the northern and eastern parts of China. Trains from the city can reach all cities in Dongbei (northeastern China) area and Beijing, Shanghai and Hankou.
Highways in Dalian
The two main highways are the Shenyang-Dalian Speedway and the Yellow Sea Speedway; connect Dalian with the other four cities, namely, Shenyang, Liaoning, Dandong, Qinhuangdao conveniently.
Airways in Dalian
Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport services as an important transportation hub in the Bohai Area, about 10km from Dalian Railway Station. Thirty international routes connect Dalian to over 30 cities in 14 countries including Vladivostok, Hiroshima, Irkutsk, Osaka, Sendai, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Munich, London, Delhi, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Fukuoka, Khabarovsk, Nagoya, Dubai, Seoul, Toyama, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Paris, Phuket and Sydney. There are regular charter service between Dalian and regions in Southeast Asia, Europe, American and Russia. In addition, 69 domestic flights leave from Dalian to the major cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Haikou, Kunming , Wuhan , Dunhuang, Nanjing and much more.
Waterways in Dalian
As a northern Chinese port, and the third largest in China, Dalian has a well developed water transport network. Scheduled passenger ships leave for Yantai, Weihai, Tianjin, Penglai and Qinhuangdao. Passenger ships depart for Changhai County daily. Ships also sail for Incheon, Korea every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Dalian has been one of the most attractive tourist destinations in China with exotic natural beauties and splendid seascapes as well as the most charming places of coastal interests. The top sites include the Bangchuidao Scenic Area, Jinshitan Scenic Area, Laohutan Ocean Park, and Lushan Mountain. The other attractive sites are the Bathing Paradise, Bingyu Valley Scenic Spot, Squares in Dalian and Xinghai Park.

Dalian Beach
Situated at the southern end of East Liaoning Peninsula, with Bohai Sea in the west and Huanghai Sea in the east, it is an important ice-free port and one of the 14 coastal open cities of the country.
With its temperate climate and beautiful scenery, Dalian is a famous site for tourism, recreation and summer resort well-known throughout the country and wins the reputation of "A Pearl on Huanghai Sea" Dalian possesses many scenic spots such as Jinshitan scenic area, Xinghai Park, Laohutan Park,looking like glittering pearls attracting numerous foreign and domestic tourists.
