As the capital of Guangdong Province, Guangzhou is a modern metropolis full of vigor and energy. It is the center of Guangdong's politic, economy and culture with the Kapok as its city flower symbolizing its evergreen and continuous developement. Covering an area of more than 7434.4 square kilometers, Guangzhou holds a population of over 11 million people with a vast number of people from home and abroad keeping swarming here. The people crowding here accelerate its economic development, whereas the economic swell allures people for the good employment.

Guangzhou also has a long history being the capital of three Dynasties in the ancient times. It has been listed of the 24 most famous historical cultural cities and became a tourist destination for the historical endowment. Location of Guangzhou

Located in the central south of Guangdong Province, north of the Pearl River Delta, Guangzhou is close to the South China Sea, Hong Kong, and Macau. It stands at the confluence of the East River, West River and North River, with its land sloping from north-east to south-west, and an alluvial plain in the south. Zhujiang (the Pearl River), the third largest river in China, runs through Guangzhou and is navigable to the South China Sea.

Climate of Guangzhou

Guangzhou enjoys a south subtropical marine climate with an annual average temperature of 21.8 degree Celsius, rainfall of 1694 millimeters, and a frost-free period of 345 days. It is hard to have a division between the four seasons. It has a humid subtropical monsoon climate, characterized by warm winters, hot summers, little frost and snow, sufficient rain and sunshine.

There are four Metro lines in Guangzhou, of which Line1 is the main vehicle to the Guangzhou East Railway Station, Line2 can take you to Guangzhou Railway Station, Line3 is formed with one north-south-ward main rail and a northeastward branch, and Line4 is under the construction.

Railways in Guangzhou

Guangzhou Railway Station and Guangzhou East Railway Station are the two main Railways Stations in Guangzhou. It is the hub of the China's transportation, so the trains can reach every corner of China. Besides, there is the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Bullet Trains, and the whole trip takes about 52 minutes.

Guangzhou New Baiyun International Airport has flights courses connecting over 70 domestic and more than 20 international cities.

Waterways in Guangzhou

Guangzhou Port includes Humen Port, Xinsha Port, Huangpu Port and many other inner ports. Its international sea transportation is well developed. The ship routes lead to more than 100 ports in China and over 300 ports of 80 countries. It is the biggest foreign trade port in South China. Besides the load and discharge of cargos, some ports also provide passenger services.

Although Guangzhou is one of the 24 most famous historical and cultural cities in China, it does not have so much tourist attractions in terms of the historical and cultural relics like Xian and Beijing. Guangzhou, to some extent, attracts tourists due to its prosperous economy and fashionable elements.
