Location and topography of Hengyang

Hengyang City is located on the middle reaches of Xiangjiang River and to the south of Mt. Hengshan with an area of 15,310 sq. km. Hengyang is about 100 miles (160km) south of Changsha (the capital of Hunan Province).

Climate in Hengyang

Influenced by a subtropical humid monsoon climate, Hengyang has four distinct seasons with an annual average temperature of about 65ºF (16ºC). The climate is pleasant here, warm in winter and cool in summer.

Transportation in Hengyang

By Train

Hengyang Railway Station, situated in the Zhuhui District of Hengyang City, offers trains running to many major cities in China and to Zhangjiajie or Changsha in Hunan Province.

By Bus

Hengyang Central Bus Station and Huaxin Bus Station are the only two long-distance bus stations in Hengyang City. These stations operate buses to places within Hunan Province such as Changsha, Xiangtan, Zhuzhou, Shaoyang, Qidong, Yongzhou, etc. There are buses to cities in other provinces too, such as Guilin, Shenzhen, Zhongshan, etc. City-bus transportation is quite convenient in Hengyang city since there are more than 40 lines covering most of the streets in Hengyang.

Travel & Sightseeing in Hengyang

Apart from its long history and culture, Hengyang beckons visitors with its natural beauty. Mt. Hengshan, the most prominent topographical feature of Mt. Nan Yue, is one of China's five sacred mountains. Besides, the four wonders of Mt. Nan Yue are: Zhurong Peak, the Tripitaka Temple, the Fangguang Temple and the Water-screen Cave. Other natural scenery and human culture in Hengyang also are worth visiting.
