Wuxi

Located in the middle of the Yangtze Delta, Taihu Plain southeast of Jiangsu Province, Wuxi is the second largest city in Jiangsu Province, 183 kilometers away from Nanjing, and 128 kilometers from Shanghai. Covering a total area of more than 4,650 square kilometers, it holds a population of 1.32 million. The famous Grand Canal, Jianghang Canal, crosses through this city. Wuxi has earned the reputation of “Lake Tai Pearl” because it is built on the shore of Lake Tai with beautiful sceneries, and also is praised as the “little Shanghai” due to its fast urbanization and booming economy.

In addition to its scenic attractions and role in a regional transport system, the water system supports a flourishing rice agriculture and fisheries. Wuxi was also known in imperial and modern times for its silk textile production, and the nearby town of Yixing is renowned for its “purple-sand” tea-ware pottery.

Location and Topography of Wuxi

Wuxi is situated in the south of Jiangsu Province, with Tai Lake and the Yangtze River cutting through it forming the most beautiful natural sceneries in China. The terrain in Wuxi City in mainly flat and plain dotted with low mountains and hills.

The advantageous geographical location helps Wuxi become one of the more and more attractive tourist sites of China with gorgeous natural beauty, and brilliant long history and culture.

Climate in Wuxi

Wuxi enjoys a warm and humid climate with four distinct seasons with an average temperature about 15.5 degree Celsius and rich rainfall all year around. Summer of Wuxi is the hottest in the four seasons with almost 36 degree Celsius, while winter being about 2 degree Celsius. The best time to have your tour should be the autumn and spring with the warm and cool weather and appropriate rainfall.

Travel $ Sightseeing in Wuxi

As one of the most attractive destinations of China, Wuxi is famous for its charming natural beauties and places of cultural interests. Although it is always the stopover between Nanjing and Suzhou, the city’s top tourist sites is never missed by the idyllic feel lovers. Taihu Lake, the third largest water lake in China, is commonly recognized as the soul of the natural scenery and cultural relics in Wuxi. In the northwest bank of the Tai Lake is the Yuantouzhu Scenic Area, the best place to appreciate the beauty of Tai Lake. On the East of the Yuantouzhu Scenic Area is the Li Garden, featuring many rock gardens and formations. The Three Kingdom City is also a top tourist attraction in Wuxi.
