Wuzhou
Wuzhou is a city in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China. It beckons tourists with its enthralling scenery and interesting local culture as well as fresh air. It's praised as "the Museum City of Sotto Portico in China" due to its natural beauty embraced by mountains and waters. Wuzhou also gains the nickname of "the East Gate of Guangxi Province" and "the Back Garden of Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao" because of its geologic position.
Location and topography of Wuzhou
Lying in the eastern part of Guangxi and neighboring Guangdong Province, Wuzhou is at the confluence of the Gui River and the Xun River. Wuzhou is surrounded by more than 20 mountains and hills occupy 80% of the whole area. Meanwhile, many rivers running through its central area gives it the nickname of "Water City".
Climate in Wuzhou
Wuzhou has a subtropical monsoon climate with an annual average temperature of about 70ºF (21ºC). Spring and autumn are best time to visit Wuzhou when climate is most pleasant and cool.
Transportation in Wuzhou
By Air
Wuzhou Changzhoudao Airport is located southwest of Wuzhou proper and now has flights to reach Guilin, Nanning, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, etc.
By Train
Wuzhou Railway Station is newly founded and now offers trains to cities like Nanning, Hezhou, Yulin, Guigang, etc.
By Bus
The 321 national highway along with the 207 national highway runs through the city and connects Wuzhou with many other cities. Wuzhou Hedong Bus Station and Wuzhou Hexi Bus Station are two main bus stations in Wuzhou City which run buses to reach other cities within Guangxi Province and some cities in other province.
By Water
Thanks to its geographical position, Wuzhou Port is the largest one in Guangxi which has daily ships connecting Guangxi with Guangdong Province. In addition, ships to Hong Kong and Macao are available.
Travel & Sightseeing in Wuzhou
Given its natural beauty and comfortable climate, it is not surprising that Wuzhou has become an increasingly popular city for traveling. There are many scenic spots. Among the highlights are the enchanting White Cloud (Baiyun) Mountain, Taiping Shishan National Forest Park, the Butterfly Valley (Hudiegu) Cruise, the Shuangdao Waterfalls Group Holiday Resort, etc. In addition, there are many historical and cultural sites, including Qilou City (Terraced Building combining Chinese and Western architecture styles together), the Long Mu (Dragon Mother) Temple, the Si'en Temple, the Baiyun Temple, the Xizhu Garden, the Zhongshan Park (the oldest park in Wuzhou City where has China's earliest memorial hall of Sun Yat-Sen), etc. Furthermore, many local celebration activities will be held on May 8th – the birthday of Dragon Mother (who is regarded as the guardian of Xijiang River. It is a good choice to join the activities and experience special local culture.
