Xiamen City Location of Fujian Province

Xiamen is one of the earliest Special Economic Zones in China, so its name meaning "the Gate of China". Covering an area of 1565 square kilometers, it holds a total population of 2.5 million. Known in the West World as Amoy, it is famous for being an ancestral home to overseas Chinese who have made great attribution to Xiamen's economic development. It has been the most attractive destination in Fujian Province mostly due to its gorgeous seascape which has won Xiamen the reputation of "China's Hawaii". As a typical littoral city and an ideal tourist destination for the visitors, Xiamen boasts a wide variety of scenic spots such as the islands, mountains, temples and parks etc.

Besides, Xiamen, with a long history, holds many historical and cultural relics to entertain the tourists home and abroad such as the Nanputuo Temple Scenic Area. The local customs and conditions of the minorities are also appealing to tourists with their unique Festivals and Distinct Oriental Culture.

Location and Topography of Xiamen

Xiamen is located in the southeastern Fujian Province, on the Southeast coast of China and to the west of the Taiwan Straits. It comprises Xiamen Island, Gulangyu Island, and larger region on the mainland stretching from the left bank of the Jiulong River in the west to the islands of Xiang'an in the north east. Known as one of the earliest treaty ports opened to foreign trade in the Chinese history, Xiamen is also an important window to foreign exchange at the present time. As the Sea in the City and the City on the Sea, Xiamen has been the second place suitable to live after Guilin City.

Climate of Xiamen

Enjoying a subtropical monsoon climate, the weather in Xiamen is mild and pleasant all of the year. In that case, the whole year is the best time to plan your visit in Xiamen City. The annual average temperature is about 21 ? without extreme heats and chilly winters. The rainfall concentrates in the months from May to August.

Railways in Xiamen

Trains from the Xiamen Railway Station reach all the major cities in China and within Fujian Province, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xian, Nanning, Hangzhou, Chongqing, Kunming etc. there are the trains to the famous tourist destinations in the peak seasons like Mount Wuyi and more.
The buses No.16, 18, 21, 25, 28 and 37 can take you to the Railway Station.

Highways in Xiamen

Long-distance buses go to all the cities within Fujian province and the major cities neighboring it like Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Guilin, Nanning, Suzhou, Shanghai, Changsha, Wuhan, Ningbo and more.

Airways in Xiamen

Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport is one of the busiest airports in China with holding over 50 domestic airline routes connecting Xiamen with 58 cities in China and a number of international flights to 17 cities in South Korea, Japan, America, Southeast Asia., and Europe.

Waterways in Xiamen

Due to its weather and topography advantage, Xiamen has been the most suitable seaport in China. There is a ship departing from Xiamen to Hong Kong every Tuesday at 14:00.

Exotic natural beauties and spectacular seascapes as well as historical and cultural relics endow Xiamen with the most attractive destination in China. The top one is the Gulangyu Island, a must-see during your trip to Xiamen, include the scenic spots of the Sunlight Rock, Shuzhuang Garden, Haoyue Park and the Piano Museum, which are so intriguing for the tourists. The Nanputuo Temple, closely south of Xiamen University, is also famous. The other top attractions are the Jimei, Wanshishan tourist area and more.
