Henan Province
With Zhengzhou as its capital, Henan province is situated in the central part of China. Henan indicates its geographic location on the "South of Yellow River". It covers an area of over 160,000 square kilometers and is the most populous province in China with total nearly 100 million people. Henan has a long history and is considered as the cradle of Chinese civilization so as to have numerous historical treasures and scenic spots. Luoyang, Kaifeng, and Anyang were the China's eight most famous ancient capitals; therefore, there are huge numbers of historical attractions to be viewed.
Location of Henan
Henan, also called as Zhongyuan, borders Hebei to the north, Shandong to the northeast, Anhui to the southeast, Hubei to the south, Shaanxi to the west, and Shanxi to the northwest.
Henan is flat in the east and mountainous in the west and extreme south. The eastern and central parts of the province form part of North China Plain. In the northwest, west, a far south of Henan province, Mount Taihang, Mount Qinling and Mount Dabieshan respectively separate it from its surrounding provinces. The major rivers are Yellow River and its branch Huaihe River; and there are many reservoirs in Henan including Danjiangkou Reservoir, Sanmenxia Reservoir, Suyahu Reservoir, Baiguishan Reservoir, and the Banqiao Reservoir.
Climate of Henan
Henan enjoys a temperature continental climate, with most rainfall in summer, dry and windy in winter and spring. Rainfall averages about 600-1000 millimeters increasing from north to south, as does the annual temperature which increases from about 12.8? in the north to 15.5? in the south.

Railways in Henan
There are six main stems railways in Henan including Beijing-Guangzhou, Beijing-Kowloon, Lanzhou-Lianyungang, Jiaozuo-Liuzhou and Xinxiang-Taiyuan, which all run through Henan. They are all joined by many other branch lines.
Highways in Henan
Centered round Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, Luoyang, Anyang, Nan yang and Xinxiang, several national highways run across the whole province, connecting every city and county. There express highways including Zhengzhou-Kaifeng, Luoyang-Anyang, Luohe-Xinyang which have been put into use.
Airways in Henan
As an important air terminal in China, Zhengzhou has flight courses to Beijing, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Kunming, Shanghai and 30 other Major cities in China.
Waterways in Henan
Parts of Huanghe, Huaihe, YingShui and Shahe are navigable. Zhoukou and Luohe are important river ports.
Travel &Sightseeing in Henan
The brilliant historic heritage has endowed Henan with plenty of cultural destinations and attractions, from primitive dwellings to earliest wheel thrown pottery. Longmen Grottoes, located to the south of Luoyang, famous for its rand treasure trove of Chinese Buddhist statues, run continuously for over 1 kilometers long with over 2,100 grottoes holding over 100 thousand statues. It is one of the most famous art grottoes and is included in the World Heritage List by UNESCO. As one of China’s most famous mountains, Mt. Songshan, situated to the northwest of Dengfeng, is a highlight site in Henan. Other attractions include: Shalin Temple, Mt. Jigong, Baima Temple, and Dragon Pavilion, etc.
