With Hefei as its capital, Anhui, located in East of China, stretches over the Yangtze River and Huai River. Covering an area of 130,000 square kilometers, it has a population of over 59 million. Anhui has been a top tourist destination in China owing to its 2,000 years of history, and the local-style dwelling houses have won the reputation of "An Epitome of Oriental Civilization". The remarkable cities and towns include Huangshan(named after Mt. Huangshan), Xidi and Hongcun, Shexian and Yixian, Hefei, Anqing, Bengbu, Ma'anshan.
Location of Anhui
Lying in eastern China across the basins of the Yangtze River and Huaihe River, Anhui is adjacent to Jiangsu and Zhejiang on the east, Hunan and Hubei on the west, Jiangxi on the south and Shandong on the north.
Anhui is quite diverse topographically with a series of mountains and hills taking up 2/3 of its total area. Its terrain gradually descends from southwest to northeast. Its northern portion is occupied by North China Plain, while its southern and western parts are mountainous with Mt. Jiuhua, Mt. Tianzhu and more. The highest peak in Anhui is Lotus Peak (1873m), part of Mount Huangshan. Besides, Mt.Huangshan and its surrounding scenery are vital tourist attractions in China.
Climate of Anhui
Located in the transitional area between temperate zone and subtropical zone, the climate in Anhui is warm and moist, and the four seasons are distinct. The annual average temperature is 14?-17?. The best time to visit is in autumn and spring. But, if you enjoy snow, you'd better to visit it in winter because of the Huangshan snow scenery.

Airway in Anhui
Hefei is the airway centre of Anhui with presently 16 airports connecting it with over 30 major cities in China and within Anhui, leading to Huangshan and Fuyang, etc. Besides, Huangshan has direct lines to 18 vital tourist cities, and cities like Anqin, Fuyang, Wuhu and Bengbu etc. also have their own civil airports.
Railway in Anhui
Anhui has got 15 railway lines presently with Jianghu, Jiangjiu and Longhai being the three biggest artery railways that transcend the province. Hefei, Bengbu and Fuyang are the most important key position of railways.
Waterway in Anhui
The main waterway transportation of Anhui Province is Yangtze River ship route and Huai River ship route. The ports of Wuhu, Tongling, Maanshan and Anqing in Yangtze River ship route are the national first-class ports open to the world, and Chizhou port is the second-class port open to the world.
Travel & Sightseeing in Anhui
Anhui intrigues and astonishes tourists with its marvelous mountain scenery and centuries-old culture relics. It boasts numerous attractions and places of interest, of which Mt. Huangshan is a top destination, famous for its gorgeous pines, precipitous stones, wonderland cloud-sea and hot springs. Yixian County, near Mt.Huangshan, possesses the most impressive sites, Ancient Villages of Xidi and Hongcun which have been included in the World Heritage List by UNESCO. They are the must for visitors who enjoy historical and cultural life.
