Guizhou Province

Guizhou province, with Guiyang as its capital, is situated in the southwest China mainland. Occupying an area of over 176,000 square kilometers (about 67,958 square miles), it has a total population of more than 35,245,000, with minority ethnic groups taking up a large part of its population. Therefore, Guizhou boasts plenty of graceful bearings referring to the local conditions and customs of various minority nationalities. All of that makes Guizhou being one of the provinces with well-developed tourist destinations in China. Besides, Guizhou is well-famous to the world for its karst cave system located in the notable cities, such as Anshun, Guiyang, Kaili, etc.

Location of Guizhou

Guizhou adjoins Sichuan Province to the north, Yunnan Province to the west, Guangxi Province to the south and Hunan Province to the east.

90% of Guizhou's total area are covered by mountains and hills, of which 70% are karst topography, making Guizhou as one of the world most typical karst physiognomy. Its terrain gradually descends from west to east, intersected by the basins like, Anshun, Guiyang, Kaili, Duyun, etc, and the average altitude of this region is about 1,000m above the sea level. The largest river is Wujiang River except for the other smaller ones. These mountains and rivers make Guizhou form its unique sightseeing spot with the huge karst system and the splendid landscapes.

Climate of Guizhou

Guizhou is rule by the subtropical humid climate with few seasonal changes. It is always cloudy and rainy all year, so the temperature is moderate, not too cold in the winter, or hot in the summer, with an annual average 15? around and annual rainfall 1000-1300 millimeters. So you can have your tour anytime.

Railways in Guizhou

Guiyang-Liuzhou, Chongqing-Guiyang, Zhuzhou-Guiding, Guiyang-Kunming and Nanning-Kunming are the main five railway stems in this region, which run through Guizhou, and are joined by many other branch lines and leased lines.

Highways in Guizhou

Centered round Guiyang, Zunyi and Anshun, and frame by national highways, Guizhou's highway system extends in all directions. Express highways connecting Guiyang with Huangguoshu, Zunyi and Duyun have all been put into use.

Travel & Sightseeing in Guizhou

Guizhou is famous for its gorgeous karst caves and other peculiar natural sceneries as well as its rich culture and brilliant history relics. Huangguoshu Waterfall, 45 km southwest of Anshun, is the biggest in China and among the world's famous waterfalls, with clusters of peaks and caves. Among them, The most attractive caves are Dragon Palace (Long gong Cave) which is like a fairy tale crystal palace with mysterious underground Karst type system, and the Zhijin Cave, another highlight, famous for its massive, scale, stalagmites, stone pillars an stone pagodas in unbelievable heights and numbers, and is named as the Museum of Karst Formation. Hongfeng Lake, situated 40km west of Guiyang City, is also worth a visit with its fascinating waters and hills.

In addition, the ethnic minorities' local customs and exotic cultures should not be missed.
