With Hohhot as its capital, Inner Mongolia is located on the north border of China, it covers a total large area of 1.1 million square kilometers, as the widest province in China, and has a population of 23.50 million, including many minority ethnic groups like Han, Mongol, Hui, etc, among which Mongols take up 70% of its populations. It has a long history, so there are countless historic and cultural relics. Besides, owing to its vast area belonging to the Plateau grassland landscape, its tourist resources consist mainly of beautiful grassland scenery.
Location of Inner Mongolia
Inner Mongolia forms the greater part of the Inner Mongolia Plateau, with an elevation of above 1,000 meters.teh Mt. DaHinggan Ling, Mt. Yinshan, and Mt. Helanshan stretch along its bode. Extensive grassland is on the east of the region, while most of the west part is occupied by Tengger, Badain Jaran, Ulan Buh, Hobq and Mu Us deserts. Yellow River is the only passing river except for the other seasonal inland rivers. All of that makes it unique pasture scenery as well as a scenic spot of grassland landscape.
Climate of Inner Mongolia
Inner Mongolia enjoys a continental monsoon climate, with a long and cold winter but a pleasant summer. The climate changes from arid to semi-humid from west to east, and to humid in the northeast. The annual rainfall is 80 - 450 millimeters, also increasing from west to east. The main feature of the climate here is that the different in temperature between days and nights is very big.

Railways in Inner Mongolia
Main stems railways include Beijing-Baotou, Baotou-Lanzhou and Beijing-Tongliao, which connect the province with over 40 main cities in China conveniently. They are also supported by the provincial railways like, Jining- Baotou, Baotou-Shenmu railways.
Highways in Inner Mongolia
National highways joined by the provincial highways form the transport network reaching every city and town in the region. The express highway between Hohot and Baotou has been put into use.

Centered round Hohhot, flights can reach Baotou, Chifeng, Hulun Buir and Xilinhot as well as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou and over 30 cities in China.
Travel & Sightseeing in Inner Mongolia
The two characteristics of Inner Mongolia’s tourism are inimitable pasture scenery and particular ethnic culture.Located in the northern border of this region, Da Hinggan Ling, the largest primitive forest in China; boast abundant resources of forest, river, diverstified animals and wonderful natural secneries. The princess Wangzhaojun, regarded as the symbol of national unity, has her tomb on the southern outskirts of Hohhot. Xiangshawan is to the south of Baotou. Sliding down from the sand hill, one can hear the sound of automobile and aircraft engines, a natural phenomenon cannot be explained.
Besides, the most attractive site should be the vast grassland where you can experience the locals' customs and conditions.
