With Xian as its capital, Shaanxi province is located in the very heart of China. Occupying an area of over 200,000 square kilometers, it boasts a population of more than 36 million. Shaanxi province is one of the most important cradles of ancient Chinese civilization. As far back as one million years ago, some of China's earliest inhabitants lived in this region, and began spreading their culture along the life-sustaining Yellow River. Shaanxi is called the "authentic history museum" in China because of its rich history, cultural relics and plentiful ruins which may be found preserved both above and underground, which makes it the hottest tourist destination in China.
Location of Shaanxi
Boasting most of the middle stretch of the Yellow River, Shaanxi province borders Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Henan, Hubei, Sichuan, Gansu and Ningxia.
With the Loess Plateau on the north and Mountains Qinling and Daba Shan on the south, Shaanxi's terrain descends from both sides to the middle where the Pingyuan lies. Rivers of Weihe, Luohe, Jinghe are the branches of Yellow River, while the rivers south of Hanshui Danjiang and Jialingjiang are the branches of Yangtze River. The plentiful rivers and fertile earth provide the inhabitants with comfortable atmosphere in ancient time so as to boast so much brilliant cultural and historical relics.
Climate of Shaanxi
Owing to its topography, Shaanxi's climate is different between the north and south. North part of the province has distinctive seasonal difference with dry winters and rainy summers, while south part of it has plenty of rainfall. The annual average temperature is between 9~16?. So, the best time to have tour tour should be spring and autumn.

Railways in Shaanxi
Main stems railway Lanzhou-Lianyungang runs through Shaanxi from west to east, and is joined by Baoji-Chengdu, Yangpingguan-Ankang, Xiangfan-Chongqing, Houma-Xian and Xian-Yan'an railways from north to south.
Highways in Shaanxi
Centered round Xian, nearly 10 national highways and over 50 provincial highways, together with express highways like Xian-Baoji and Xian-Tongchuan, connect every city and county in the area.
Airways in Shaanxi
Xianyang International Airport is an important hub of air transportation in West China. There are flight courses to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and over 50 other cities in China as well as international destinations in Japan and R.O.Korea.
Travel & Sightseeing in Shaanxi
With long history, Shaanxi holds numerous historical and cultural relics. One of the oldest is the Banpo Village Remains, the site of a 6,000 years old village which belongs to the Neolithic Age. Xian is the top destination in China with the awesome Ancient City Wall, now the biggest and most well-preserved ancient wall in China; the amazing Museum of Qin Terracotta Warriors and Horses, a site honored as the Eighth Great Wonder of the world and much more highlights to entertain the tourists.
Beyond the rich historical legacy, it also boasts abundant natural beauty such as the Mount Huashan, 120 kilometers east of Xian, famous for its breathtaking cliffs and awe-inspiring landscape.
