Maliandao Tea Market in Beijing, China

Located in the southwestern part of Xuanwu District, the Maliandao Tea Street  is the biggest tea market of north China and the most famous tea street in Beijing. With a length of about 1.5 km, Maliandao Tea Street has over 8 large tea malls and about 1000 tea stores which sell all kinds of tea throughout China, such as Anxi Tieguanyin Tea, Huangshan Maofeng Tea, West Lake Dragon Well (longjing) Tea, Dongting Biluochun Tea, Yunnan Puer Tea, Pingshui Pinhead Tea, etc., with prices ranging from dirt cheap to super expensive. Tea is not just a drink in China, but a way of life. Maliandao Tea Street is absolutely a good place to get a glimpse into Chinese tea culture. Most tea shops here always offer free tea for you to taste first and then you can bargain with the owner. If you are interested in, shop owners are happy to teach novices and give suggestions.

Tips:

  1. Prices here are not set in stone.
  2. Most of the tea malls are closed at 19:00.
  3. It's not a good time to visit during Chinese Spring Festival when many shops and malls are discontinued.
