Silk (Xiu Shui) Alley Market of Beijing China

The new Xiushui Market has reopened for business in a bright and spacious shopping mall, replacing the original outdoor Xiu Shui Street (Silk Street). The new 7-floor Xiu Shui Market still maintains its popularity and is a must on most foreigners' Beijing tour.

The Silk Market has more than just silk. Cashmere, clothes, leather goods, garment, hats, shoes, carpet, souvenir, jewelry, etc. all can be found in this glitzy mall. And you need to have some patience to fossick among over 1,600 booths here. Despite the government making efforts to stamp out fake goods, you still can find many fake versions of world famous brands.

Most of the vendors in the Xiushui Silk Market can speak a little English and they usually tell the price on calculator. If you are good at bargaining, you might get things very cheap.
