How to Get to Mount Huangshan

Huangshan Mount, also known as Yellow Mountain, is a mountain range in southern Anhui province in eastern China. The area is well known for its interesting shaped rocks, waterfalls, unique shaped pine trees growing out of rocks, and views of the clouds from above. So, how to get there is necessary for any Huangshan tour.

How to get to Mt. Huangshan

From Huangshan Airport

Huangshan Airport, also referred as the Huangshan Tunxi Airport, located in the Tunxi District of Huangshan City, about 5 kilometers from the downtown of Huangshan city. There are several airlines to Huanshan City such as from Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Hefei, Tianjin, Haikou, Shenzhen, Fuzhou, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Xian, Kunming, Xiamen, Zhuhai, etc. Arriving in Huangshan Airport, you can take the Airport Bus or Taxis to Huangshan city downtown, 5RMB and 15 RMB respectively. On the Bus Station of Huangshan, you can take the bus directly to Huangshan Scenic Area.

From Huangshan Railway Station

Huangshan Railway Station is located in Qianyuan Bei Lu, also downtown Tunxi District. With Wan-Gan Railway line (from Anhui Province to Jiangxi Province) runs through Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao, Nanjing, Hefei, Jingdezhen, Nanchang, Xiamen, Yingtan, Fuzhou, etc to Huangshan City. There are trains setting for the foot of Mt. Huangshan – station of Tangkou, and every five minutes by day, there is one train, costing 10 RMB and taking one and half an hour.

From Huangshan Bus Station

Huangshan City Bus Station is near the Railway Station, located in Huangshan Dong Lu, about ten minutes on foot from the railway station. There are buses from Huangshan City to Hangzhou, Nanjing, Hefei, Mt.Jiuhua, Mt. Huangshan, Jingdezhen, Hangzhou, Hefei, Tongling, Ningbo, Shanghai, Wuhan, Suzhou, Wenzhou, etc.
Getting off long-distance buses, tourists cannot take buses directly to Mt. Huangshan, because there is no direct bus from Tunxi to there. Visitors should take a bus from the Huangshan City Bus Station to Tangkou Town near the south entrance of Mt. Huangshan Scenic Area. The fare is 13RMB one person, then, transfer to a special tourist coach which will take you to the Ciguang Pavillion – the starting point for climbing the mountain from the front or the Cloud Valley Temple – the starting point for climbing the mountain from the back.

However, there are direct buses to Mt. Huangshan Scenic Area from Anqing, Hangzhou, Yixian County and Hefei.
