As the capital city of Guangdong Province, Guangzhou is situated right at the top of Pearl River Delta at the confluence of the North River, East River and West River, formerly known as Canton to the western countries. Although it is one of the twenty-four famous historical and cultural cities in China, it does not have so much cultural tourist attractions as in Beijing or Xian. However, it has its own charm and amazement with notable tourist attractions including Yuexiu Park, Bright Filial Piety Temple (Guangxiao Si), the Pearl River, White Cloud Mountain, etc. In addition, with the opening up policy of China to the outside world, a huge number of people warmed into the city, accelerating its economic development and making it the most modern metropolis of China.
