72 kilometers south of Liping City of Guizhou Province, Zhaoxing Dong village is situated in a valley encircled by dense mountains. It is claimed as the largest Dong village in China with an area of 180 square kilometers, 800 hundreds and 4000 in population. Its ancient architecture, century-old practices, hospitable locals and fertile terraced fields offer a welcome contrast to joyless cemented modern cities. Zhaoxing Dong village has been included in the Guinness Book of World Records for its pure ethnic culture and history. In the region, tourists can be delighted by their drum towers, theater stages, and the local foods. The food options are quite limited in this area and western cuisine is practically non-existent, and tourists are suggested to carry snacks for energy while walking around.
