Hong Kong Wong Tai Sin Temple Maps & Guide
Wong Tai Sin Temple, together with the Man Mo Temple and Po Lin Monastery, has been the most famous temple in Hong Kong, also renowned among overseas Chinese in Southern Asia, Europe, and America.

Wong Tai Sin Temple is named after Wong Chuping who began to follow Taoism when he was 15, achieving enlightenment and becoming immortal. It is said that he punishes evils, heals the wounded, and rescues the dying, and his influence spread from Guangdong Province to Hong Kong in the early 20th century. With his mercy and power, his is said to be able to grant whatever is requested, so the Temple is known for its fortune-telling with the most accurate worship sticks. Wong Tai Sin has many worshippers in Hong Kong, so the joss sticks and candles burn exuberantly all year around, especially during the Chinese Lunar New Year and Wong Tai Sin' birthday – the 23rd day of the eight lunar month.

The architecture of the temple is in the traditional Chinese temple style: grand red pillars, a magnificent golden roof adorned with blue friezes, yellow latticework, and resplendent multi-colored carvings. Three memorial archways, which are a very common feature of classic Chinese architecture, can be found on the grounds of the temple. At the complex, you will also find a Nine-Dragon Wall, similar to the famous one located in Beijing. Besides, there is a Good Wish Garden, a favorite place for visitors to gather.
The temple is open from 07:00 to 17:30 throughout the year, and runs overnight in the Lunar New Year Eve. It is currently administrated by Sik Sik Yuen, a Taoist organization in Hong Kong.
