As the capital city of Hubei Province, Wuhan is the biggest hub city in Central China with both ancient history and a thriving present, which means that the city has not only numerous places of historical interests but also splendid natural highlights. The historical tourist attractions include: the well-known Yellow Crane Tower, a Wuhan landmark, is a must-see for the tourists, Guanyuan Buddhist Temple (Temple of Original Purity), one of the four important Buddhist temples in China, known for its perfect architecture, excellent sculptures, and rich collection of Buddhist doctrine, the Chairman Mao Zedong's Villa, adjacent to the East Lake built as a retreat house for Chairman Mao and other privileged ruling members of the Politburo, and the Heptachord Terrace, another wonderful place of interest in the city.
