The Grand Canal from Beijing to Hangzhou is one of the greatest ancient projects in China and is the longest man-made canal in the world, covering a total length of 1,794 kilometers and meeting five rivers of the Yangtze River, Yellow River, Huaihe, Haihe and Qiantang River. It winds through Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei Province, Shandong, Jiangsu and Zhejiang with Hangzhou as its southernmost end. The Grand Canal flows from north to south, offering a key link between several river systems and playing a valuable role in developing economic and cultural exchange between north and south and pushing the development of China's economy. Nowadays, the tourist routes from Wuxi to Yangzhou and Wuxi to Hangzhou has been attracting more and more travelers from home and abroad. Visitors can enjoy the spectacular views, folk customs along the cities south of the Yangtze River.
