Walking around the Old Shanghai area is a must for any tourists in Shanghai, which can bring you with the taste of Old Shanghai. Although the city walls of the original Chinese settlement were pulled down early last century, their former path is still clearly visible. The Old City consists of the Huaihai Road, Renmin Road, Dongtai Road, Fangbang Zhonglu, Dajing Lu, and Shanghai Xintiandi.

The Shanghai Old City is also home to the famous Yuyuan Gardens, and to places of worship of every shape, size, and religious persuasion. Huaihai Park is also the most attractive tourist site in the Old City, and in your walking tours, you can find everything from bustling produce markets full of pajama-clad vendors and shoppers, to some delightful old timber and brick architecture.
