Suzhou, as one of the most attractive tourist destinations of China, is close to Shanghai, so travelers always need to know how to get there from Shanghai. Here we collect some of the most useful alternatives for your references.

Suzhou to Shanghai

1. The Most Pleasant Way

You can take Airport Bus No.1 to Hong Qiao Airport which services as a transition station, and almost on the same stop is the stop for Suzhou. There is always one bus leaving for Suzhou every hour from 10:00 to 20:00. Since the buses will take the route via the Shanghai-Nanjing Highway, it should be very fast (about 1 hour) to get to Suzhou.

2. The Better Way – By Train

You may take a bullet train from Shanghai to Suzhou, and it takes about 30 minutes from Shanghai to Suzhou by bullet train. The first bullet train is at 05:45, and when you arrive in Suzhou, it is nearly 06:30.

You can go to the Shanghai Railway Station (NOT the South Station!) by either bus (115, 515, plus many many other) or metro (line 1 or line 3), and ask for the train to Suzhou. Just saying "Suzhou" to any uniformed person (police, station worker, and janitor) there and they'll be happy to point you to where to go. You can get the ticket at the station, or any train ticket vendors around the city; they're really all over the place. Call any travel agents listed in That's Shanghai or City Weekend or any of the English periodicals and they can point you to a train ticket vendor.
