The Shanghai Tower will be the tallest building in China, the second in the world, rising approximately 632 meters and 128 stories with an area of 380,000 square meters. It began groundbreaking on 29 November, 2008, and is estimated to finish in 2014. It is a super tall skyscraper under construction in the Pudong District of Shanghai.

Jin Mao Building, the Shanghai World Financial Center, and the Shanghai Tower are the three super tall skyscrapers for the Lujiazui financial district, and the first two have been completed. Finally, Gensler, the largest architecture firm in the United States and in the world, as well as the most profitable, had the innovative design in June 2008, where the building twists as it rises and is surrounded by an outer glass curtain wall.
