Shanghai Subway / Metro Maps

For traveling around Shanghai, subway is a speedy, safe, comfortable and convenient means of transportation. Presently, Shanghai has eight subway lines in operation, totaling approximately 225 kilometers, connecting the main tourist attractions, transportation hubs, commercial areas and shopping spots such as the Bund, Nanjing Road, Huaihua Road, People's Square, Shanghai Railway Station and Xujiahui. Besides the present eight lines, several metro lines under construction are still being programmed.

Line 1, from Xinzhuang to Fujin Road, has 28 stations, including the Waihuan Road, Lianhua Road, Jinjiang Park, Shanghai South Railway Station, Shanghai Indoor Stadium, Shanghai Circus World, and so on.

Line 2 starts from Songhong Road and ends at Zhangjiang High Technology Park station, reaching Zhongshan Park, Jiangsu Road, Jing'an Temple, People's Square, Century Avenue, etc.

Line 3, from Shanghai South Railway Station to North Jiangyang Road, has 29 stations, such as the Shanghai Railway Station, Hongkou Football Stadium, etc.

Line 4 is the circle line, generally reaching Yishan Road, Century Avenue, Shanghai Railway Station, and Zhongshan Park.

Line 5 is from Xinzhuang to Minhang Development Zone.

Line 6 reaches the Gangcheng Road, Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone, Hangjin Road, Wuzhou Avenue, Shanghai Road and South Lingyan Road.

Line 8 is from Shiguang Road to Yaohua Road, getting to 21 stations, while Line 9 starts from Guilin Road, passing through Caohejing Hi-Tech Park, Hechuan Road, Songjiang University Town and Songjiang Xincheng. Shanghai will have 11 subway lines in 2010, totaling about 400 kilometers and making up over 35% of the city's mass transit system.

Line 7 is aiming to help the passengers travelling to the venue of the World Expo 2010 near the Fadian Road Station in Pudong. And the Line 10 and 11 will be completed before the World Expo.
