Located in Burqin County of Altay City in Xinjiang Province, the Kanas Natural Reserve boasts a beautiful natural ecosystem formed by lakes, rivers, glaciers, forests, and grasslands and the highlight in this area should be the Kanas Lake (Kanasi Hu), meaning "beautiful, rich and mysterious" in Mongolian, being found 150km north of Bu'erjin Town in Xinjiang. The lake is 1,375 meters high above sea level and covers an area of 45.73 square kilometers, and its color varies according to the seasons and weather. There are six bays along the Kanas Lake and each of them holds a marvelous tale. Besides Kanas Lake, Wolong Bay and Moon Bay are also attractions alluring many visitors and travelers.
